Mrs. Rachel Ratz - February 2025 Educator of the Month

Superintendent, Mr. Dustin Gehring, is honored to announce that Mrs. Rachel Ratz has been selected as February’s “Educator of the Month.”
Mrs. Ratz is the Counselor at Franklin County Middle School. This is Rachel’s second year at FCCSC, but fourth year working in education with students in grades K-12. Prior to education, she worked as an Inpatient Social Worker at a hospital for almost 10 years.
Rachel has her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and Minor in Psychology from Indiana University in Bloomington. She is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Education and School Counseling from Liberty University, Virginia, and plans to graduate in December of 2025.
Rachel was nominated for this honor by a staff member. When asked why Mrs. Ratz should be considered for this recognition, she responded, “Rachel is always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. You will catch her anywhere and everywhere throughout the school helping out. She takes great pride in her work and truly cares for the students. Rachel is a huge asset to Franklin County Middle School and I am so thankful I get to have her as a coworker.”
Mrs. Ratz is actively involved in youth sports within the community and also leads a Girl Scouts troop at her daughter’s school. In her “free time”, Rachel loves spending time with her husband and two daughters. She added, “Watching my children in their extracurricular activities brings me so much joy, and we all enjoy traveling as a family. We’re big fans of country music and love going to concerts whenever we can.”
When asked what she loves most about her job, Mrs. Ratz responded, “The best part of my job is working with children during such formative years of their lives. I take pride in providing guidance, education, and support to help them navigate decisions that will shape their future success - both in the short and long term - while supporting them throughout their educational journey.”
The purpose of the “Educator of the Month” program is to recognize outstanding Franklin County educators who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, leadership in the school, dedication to the students, and involvement in the community. Nomination forms for “Educator of the Month” can be found on the school corporation website at www.fccsc.k12.in.us.
