Superintendent, Mr. Dustin Gehring, is honored to announce that Mrs. Bobbi Princell has been selected as March’s “Educator of the Month.”

Mrs. Princell is a second grade teacher at Brookville Elementary School (BES). Bobbi has been educating FCCSC students for 28 years, but has taught everything from preschool to high school hearing impaired in her 37 years in education. In addition to her role at BES, Bobbi is involved with the Alzheimer’s Association and has previously coached Girls on the Run for eight seasons.

Mrs. Princell has her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan.

Bobbi was nominated for this honor by a parent. When asked why Mrs. Princell should be considered for this recognition, she responded, “My daughter talks non-stop about how she is so nice. She absolutely loves the fact that she gets to see Mrs. Princell everyday. My daughter has said that anytime she asks a question, Mrs. Princell is always so helpful. Bobbi provides the greatest communication with me as a parent. She was so informative at the beginning of the year at parent/teacher conferences. My daughter has also expressed that Mrs. Princell makes sure that she helps everybody in the classroom.”

In her “free time”, Bobbi enjoys gardening, cooking, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

When asked what she loves most about her job, Mrs. Princell responded, “The best part of my job is simple. It’s the students. A second grade classroom is a special place to be each and every day. One of my favorite parts of teaching second graders is seeing how much growth happens in just one year. At this age students are becoming more independent, curious for knowledge, and confident in their abilities. Their reading skills take off and they start making deeper connections between ideas. I love building relationships with my students. I love getting to know their personalities and watching them grow. Watching them gain confidence and seeing those ‘aha’ moments when something clicks is incredibly rewarding. Plus, their sense of humor at this age is fantastic. I like to think that my students know that when they walk through my classroom door we will laugh a lot and they will be loved a lot! It is also rewarding when former students come back either the next year, or twenty years later, and share with me their memories from when I was their teacher.”

The purpose of the “Educator of the Month” program is to recognize outstanding Franklin County educators who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, leadership in the school, dedication to the students, and involvement in the community. Nomination forms for “Educator of the Month” can be found on the school corporation website at www.fccsc.k12.in.us.
