Superintendent, Mr. Dustin Gehring, is honored to announce that Ms. LaDonna Raab has been selected as September’s “Educator of the Month.”

Ms. Raab is a third grade teacher at Laurel Elementary School. She has been educating our LES students for three years, but has been in education for 10. LaDonna received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Anderson University and her Special Education licensure from the University of Saint Francis.

Ms. Raab was nominated for this honor by a coworker.  When asked why LaDonna should be considered for this recognition, she responded, “Ms. Raab has made learning fun for my child. He comes home every day excited about what he learned. This is the same child I had to fight to get dressed every morning last year. He hated everything about school and refused to talk about what he was doing or what he had learned. He is now happy to tell me about his day and every exciting thing they did in class. I swear that teacher works magic in her classroom.”

In her “free” time, LaDonna enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading novels and watching movies.

When asked what she loves most about her job, Ms. Raab responded, “The absolute best part is the students that I get to work with. I love getting to know them, seeing their personalities, and joking around with them all while we do what we need to do each day. But what makes it even better is when I get to see them start to understand a topic that they struggled with before. They get so excited and their classmates share in the excitement too.”

The purpose of the “Educator of the Month” program is to recognize outstanding Franklin County educators who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, leadership in the school, dedication to the students, and involvement in the community. Nomination forms for “Educator of the Month” can be found on the school corporation website at www.fccsc.k12.in.us.
